Today the topic of the lesson is “We are going shopping”. You’ll also learn about British money.

Pupils look at the shops on the poster "Shops". Take the poster away and ask pupils to try to rеmеmbеr as mаnу of the shops as they can. Write the words оn the board.

ІІ. ОСНОВНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

1. Look at the pictures and say what do you see there.

Than match the pictures with the shops.

2. Look at the pictures in ex.2 and say where can you buy the things in the pictures.

Than fill in the things that can you buy at the shop to the grid of ex.3 p.69.

3. Look at the British money and say how many pence are in a pound? Ex.4,5 p.69.

In England they have got pounds and pence. There are 100 pence in a pound.

Grammar game

Клас розподіляється на дві команди. Учитель пише на дошці назви предметів, що

зазвичай продаються у крамницях: a book (￡3), books (￡4), bread (￡1.50), shoes (￡25),

a newspaper (50 p), a toy car (￡2.40), jeans (￡15), boots (￡65), trousers (￡17), sausages (￡2). Ex.5 p.69

Одна команда складає запитання з першим словом, друга відповідає на це запитання;

потім друга команда складає запитання з другим словом, а перша відповідає:

Team 1 : How much is this book?

Team 2: It’s three pounds. How much are these books?

Team 1 : They are five pounds і т. ін.

За кожне правильно побудоване запитання та відповідь на нього команда отримує 1 бал. Перемагає команда, яка отримає більше балів.

4. Гра Sentence Star.

Учитель малює на дошці зірку, на кінці кожного променя якої записує слово або словосполучення за темою У закладах торгівлі: cheap, to cost, to try on, to buy, to sell.

Учні в командах по троє-четверо складають речення із цими словами. На це завдання

надається 7 хвилин. Кожне правильно складене речення отримує 1 бал. Перемагає

команда, яка набере найбільше балів.

4. Countable and uncountable nouns. MUCH/MUCH.

Злічувані і незлічувані іменники.

Учитель пише на дошці іменники: orange, egg, chocolate, oil, bottle, water, sugar, jar,

onion, bag, cream, flour, jam.

Потім просить учнів назвати ті, що не можна порахувати. Учні називають незлічувані

іменники, а учитель підкреслює їх на дошці. Учитель звертає увагу на те, що слово money в англійській мові також є незлічуваним іменником. Він також нагадує, що незлічувані іменники мають тільки форму однини.

Злічувані іменники мають форми однини та множини.

Незлічувані іменники (назви речовин, абстрактні поняття) вживаються тільки в однині.

Неозначений артикль а не вживається. : milk, water, music….

Much time, much milk….

Many apples, many desks…

A lot of cheese, a lot of children…

Do the plural forms of nouns.

Milk, potato, child, egg, water, tomatoes, apple, pencil, biscuit, banana.

5. Imagine that you are Sam’s friend and you are choosing a present for him.

Check the answers bу eliciting thеm frоm the whole class and writing а list оn the blackboard.

First of all I must tell you about myself. I am 13 and I am in the third class at a Grammar school. What a terrible day it was yesterday! I woke up late and didn't have time to eat my breakfast. I couldn't find my books and my school cap. At last I was nearly late for school.

London is the capital of England. The heart of London is the City. It is the oldest part of London. There are many banks and offices there.

The centre of London is Trafalgar Square. Some people say it is the most beautiful place in the capital. There is a monument to Lord Admiral Nelson in the middle of the square. There are two beautiful fountains in it, too. They are in the front of the National Gallery. Many tourists visit this fine building every day.

1) You are in London for the first time. You want to see the city. What means of  transport will you choose and why?

2) Tell your friends about your plans for a trip around Ukraine. Talk about the things you want to take with you and how you want to travel from your home.

3)  Talk about the places to visit in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

4) Talk about the traditions in your town or village.

5) You are in London. You are at the birthday party. Your friend doesn't know English well. Help him / her get acquainted with a new friend.

6) Tell your new English friend about your daily life. Talk about your house­hold chores and free time activities.

7) It is your first school day in England. Introduce yourself to the class. Say as much about yourself as you can.

8) You were in Great Britain last summer. Tell your friends about your English lessons there.

9) A group of children from the USA is on a visit in your school. Take the guests around your school. Ask them about the places they want to see. Show all the rooms you have.

10) You are at home. Your mum is very busy at her work. she phones you and asks you to help her do shopping. What must you buy?
